Joy, warmth and friendliness are crucial sensations in our way of understanding life and constitute an exceptional bridge between those who pour the wine and those who taste it. The first stopper designs were born from this ideal foundation and were created thinking of an object that would exude sympathy and conviviality.
For over forty years WAF has been patenting and producing stoppers whose tightness and efficiency is recognized by professionals all over the world. The 1st stopper for closing bottles of sparkling wine/bubbles was born in 1977. and in 1985 conceive and patent the Block WAF System®. The system represents the most ingenious invention for preserving the precious characteristics of wines and sparkling wines over time.
The fixing bracket has been designed to counteract the vertical thrust that the stopper receives and therefore guarantees sealing up to 6 atmospheres. It is an ingenious and very simple instrument that has toured (and continues to do so) around the world and which after over 35 years continues to be a must, unsurpassed in terms of functionality, ease of use, scientific expertise…From the creation of the product to today, well over 70 million stoppers have come out of factories!
How does it work?
The seal has been certified with a specific test* by an accredited laboratory. The test showed that the internal pressure of a bottle of sparkling wine was kept almost unchanged for an observation period of 72 hours at a constant temperature.
The Block WAF System® follows the principle according to which the pressure exerted on a fluid is transmitted in all directions with equal intensity. By applying this principle to the stopper, carbon dioxide enters the teat through the hole and expands against the glass wall, thus creating a state of overpressure inside. The fixing bracket has been designed to counteract the vertical thrust that the stopper receives and therefore guarantees sealing above 6 atmospheres.
